You May rememmber we published a post a few weeks ago that titled small ways you can help the enviroment today well we have come up with a list of 7 more ways to help ot the enviroment, hence a part II to the previous post.

Starting a new small environmental friendly habit today can really help ensure the future of the planet, especially if you can encourage your friends, family and acquaintances to do the same. Here are seven things that you could start doing today.

  1. Instead of using paper cups, paper napkins and towels, tissues (for your blowing your nose), try using mugs that you can wash up, cloth napkins and towels you can reuse, and handkerchiefs that you can wash. This way you will make sure that you are creating less waste going into the environment on a daily basis

With ever increasing bad weather fronts, like floods, tornado’s and hurricanes our environment is changing at a faster pace than at any point in our history, of recorded weather.

All over the world defense systems designed for our safety are basically not good enough. So what if anything can be done to control, or even calm our environment and the changes that will occur to it in the future?

Before you consider installation of rubber mulch on a playground area, a thorough site analysis should have been carried out by a certified civil engineer or landscape architect. You should also get a professional in to install the rubber mulch.

The intended playground surface must be prepared in advance to installation. All rocks, wood chips, sods, roots, vegetation and gravel must be removed from the area. If the existing surface is asphalt, this will need to be removed, as this type of surface under the rubber mulch will impede safety. Also the chemicals in asphalt can fade the rubber mulch considerably.

Paper, plastic bags, tins, bottles and cardboard packaging are all types of waste, which the average person will throw out on a daily basis. By choosing not to recycle these items, by throwing them into your regular bin, they will end up on a landfill site and you will be damaging our environment further.

Local councils, states and governments now all push for recycling facilities and collections, so the excuses for choosing not to recycle are in decline. Really, we should feel socially responsible to recycle the waste we personally produce.

Many people still use organic plant based mulch in their gardens and have many questions and concerns about the use of rubber mulch. I will be writing several blog posts to answer the most pressing questions about rubber mulch. Let’s start with a few of the more obvious questions.

What is Rubber Mulch?

Rubber mulch is a type of mulch, made from recycled rubber – usually tires. It is often dubbed as the environmentally friendly version of plant based mulch. In fact a cubic yard of rubber mulch uses approximately 33 recycled tires, making it a great environmental option. It is commonly used for landscaping, playground surfacing and equestrian surfaces.
