
Accidents will always happen in and around the garden when children are playing, after all we can’t keep an eye on them all of the time, we are only human. One of the things we can do though is make sure that where they play is as safe as it can be.

These days we are getting ever increasing amounts of warmer weather, this means children will want to play outside more and parents will want their children to be able to do this as safely as possible. Whether your kids have things to play on in their gardens or not, accidents will happen and we all know you cannot watch all of them, all of the time.
However we can make sure that the areas they have to play in are as safe as possible. This means checking things like swings, slides and other pieces of equipment on a yearly basis. If it can take your weight, then it is safe for your child, things that have chains on should be kept clean of rust and not have any open parts on the links or hooks. Now teaching your kids rules in the playground is quite a hard subject to tackle because you can be too strict and limit their fun in the playground. On the other hand you don’t want them to come to any harm due to any mischievous antics.
Some general tips before they actually leave the house include ensuring your child wears sun screen so they don’t get sun burnt when it’s hot. Also ensure they aren’t wearing clothes with ties or draw strings that could get caught on any playground equipment. The same would apply for necklaces, as they could get caught and strangle a child.
