Because most children have easier access to public playgrounds than home playsets, only 16% of the injuries reviewed were sustained at home, but these children were 30% more likely to remain in the hospital for their injuries, and a 50% greater chance of having a broken bone. Falls, particularly from slides, seemed to pose the greatest danger.

The data clearly points to the necessity for adequate playground safety measures and the right playground flooring in home playgrounds as well as commercial ones. Concrete and blacktop provide no cushioning from a fall, while grass and gravel may also lose what little protection they offer from weather related circumstances, such as rain.
