Protect our environment

I read an article recently, that was more to do with global warming, than it was about the environment. Now it occurs to me that governments around the world are not that interested in their own environment, but more interested in what they can get from the UN with regards to subsidies on environmental issues.

Now I would not say that I am a great follower of the political stage, but when things come up about the environment, I do sit up and take notice, and so should we all. The thing is, we are told a lot of rubbish, by the people in power (or the ones that pull their purse strings), that they are doing everything they can to protect our environment, when really they are looking at the best way to make more money for themselves.

Take a look at Bio-fuel, this is something that does cost quite a bit to produce and does use a certain amount of fuel, to get it where it needs to be, so that we can use it. Governments though, are not putting money into technology, to try and find a better way of producing it, they are just going to the UN and saying, ’Yes we are doing our bit to produce Bio-fuel, give us more money’.

Do these governments not realize that the money they are getting from the UN is actually coming from most of their own coffers anyway? Well yes they do, but they are still getting more back. If they spend their own money on finding a way to put up wind farms and create cheaper Bio-fuel, they will probably lose out.

This has to be the main problem with national environmental damage; no-one wants to spend money on it, unless they know they are going to make money. Now I’m going to look at a bigger picture and say, why not wipeout all these third world debts, once and for all and just help each other out once in a while. Then we could concentrate a bit more on what is happening to the environment on a global scale.

If even the poorest countries put their resources together, then creating things to help the environment would be a lot easier. The Kyoto agreement just makes me want to cry, especially when the major powers can’t agree on the smallest of things.

So please, get up in arms about everyone’s environment, not just yours, because the planet is OUR ENVIRONMENT.
