Bugs and ants around the house are annoying, but even more so when they get in the house. This blog post will give you some natural solutions to get rid of those pesky bugs once and for all. We want to choose natural solutions, as inhalation of some chemical insecticides can be fatal, especially for small children and animals.
The first thing you should do in protecting your house from bug infestations is look around the exterior of your house, to see if there are any cracks, gaps, or entry points around windows, doors, pipes and drains. If there are any potential spots, make sure they are sealed.
One common congregational area for ants and termites is wooden mulch, as bugs love this dead debris. So if you do use mulch I would recommend using rubber mulch, as insects will not make their homes in it. Also if you have piles of old grass, weeds, or decaying plant materials get rid of it, as these are also insect attractors.
Another way to keep ants away from your house is to measure the perimeter of your house with a tape measure and cut a piece of yarn this length. Soak this yarn in lemon or lime juice and place around the perimeter of your house and the ants will scarper.
Actually keeping shrubs and plants at least a foot away from your home is another way you can stop insects getting in your home, as this will prevent insects from jumping from plant to house.
There are natural products like grounds of coffee and diatomaceous earth that you can sprinkle around your home that will deter insects. Diatomaceous earth is ground up sea creature shells. This cuts into an insects skins, dehydrates them, and therefore kills them in a matter of hours.
As this blog post shows, chemicals are not required to get rid of insects, so next time you need to exorcise some insects, take an environmentally friendly option like using rubber mulch.
