Many new gardeners, homeowners, or people new to landscaping, do not appreciate how rubber mulch (rubber soil made from recycled tires) can actually benefit their gardens and landscapes, and even lessen their workloads.

Regardless of which garden/landscape type is your passion, putting rubber mulch around the garden beds, will be beneficial in many ways like weed control, conserving water, protection from the cold and enhancing the beauty of your garden.

Using rubber mulch around your flower beds, and plants will prevent nasty weeds coming in and suffocating your treasured plants. Covering of rubber mulch over the soil will prevent the sun getting to the soil, and thus stop most weed seeds from germinating. The use of rubber mulch will also help conserve water. On hot days, it will protect the soil from the effects of the sun, and help keep the soil under the mulch moist. On cold days it will protect the soil from frost by insulating the roots of the plants. Best of all, rainwater will drain through the water-resistant rubber and nourish your soil, whatever the time of year!

There are a great variety of colors of rubber mulch (like royal blue, terracotta red, or forest green) that you can use to compliment your garden or landscape to make it look even more beautiful, which is something that you don’t really have much choice with other types of organic mulches.

When rubber mulch does the same job, as other mulches on the market, lasts a whole lot longer (you don’t need to replace it, year after year), it really is something you should consider as a landscaper.
